Truck drivers must have at least 20/40 vision in each eye.
Hearing test

Drivers may be disqualified for using any other scheduled drug, including amphetamines, benzodiazepines and other drugs that generate dependence or narcotics.
Urine test
Urinalysis can identify kidney disease or diabetes. A DOT drug test also checks for recent use of the following illicit substances: Marijuana, Cocaine, Amphetamines (methamphetamine, amphetamine, MDMA or MDA), Opiates (heroin, oxycodone, hydrocodone, morphine, codeine, oxymorphone, hydromorphone), Phencyclidine (PCP).

Neurological examination
A neurological examination to evaluate reflexes and coordination. Epilepsy or other seizure disorder disqualifies the driver.
Commercial truck drivers and hidden medical problems
As we will see in another blog post, some drivers hide medical problems in order to pass the medical exam. These drivers are breaking the law and endangering the public.
